Phillip, do u realy think that not killing animals will help the population? I am a hunter and i live in a farming area whare the deer population has come to the point whare they are un-healthy, and this is the reason we hunt. If you alow a population of animals such as deer especialy to go to the point of bad health by not having enouf food to eat, they all start to die off. Its called conservation. When you spend as much time as i do in the woods hunting each year, you start to see how the health of the animals is declining. This decline comes from the lake of food to suport the population, and this lake of food is not due to destruction of habitat in this area. See we have farmers here that have hayfields that the deer can graze in, so tharefore it aint habitat lose. So the point is that man has to work to control the population of serten animals to keep the population healthy and remember the first conservation in this country was started by hunters. So i say that man has to learn to alow for the hunting of serten species to help make their population healthier........just the opinion of a country boy...and yes i am a redneck Phillip....the name redneck dose not mean a person that just kills evry animal they see for fun....... happy herping Wally

I never meant it in that way. I understand why we have to hunt now is beacuse people have hunted the natural preditors to almost extictions.

Hey Phil, I completely agree with you on the humans being a virus part, I also am a ferm beliver in population control. Does a population have to be like in China before measures are taken ? Human society is ego-centric, is living under the opinion that they are the most important thing and that everything on this planet belongs to them and that they are free to eradicate wildlife at their willing. Ignorant idiots... I wouldn`t die for a single animal simply because I know that I am alive I could help the entire species a lot more. I would, lets say, give some fingers away for a single animal but I would happily give my life to I`ve saved an entire species by doing this. Happy herping Phillip, keep up the good work. Alex S.

my wife and I are avid herp keepers, and when we saw his 7 deadly snakes of africa we about jumped through the TV to slap him. I never thought in a million years that I would be happy to see someone bitten by a hot snake. but he deserved it! that was the best lesson anyone could learn from him "Act like a moron around a deadly animal, and suffer the consequences." Then, as previously mentioned by another member, he was on Letterman the other night, almost tossing a C. ademanteous at Dave. Not good herping at all. People like him may be exciting to watch, but my wife and I refuse to watch anything of his ever again. We promote safe handling like Mark's shows. Even at the peak of excitement, mark still maintains enough composure to use the tools made for handling hots. I'm just glad that I'm currently stationed in Germany, and we don't get many AP shows here. As always happy herping.

So what did people think? I have to admit, it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
OK, so he is as bad as ever, but at least AP threw some money at this project. The viewer warning at the beginning and the conservation note at the end covers many of the concerns expressed here. It’s obvious a lot went into editing this show. And I admit I rolled and laughed at the melodrama of it all. I wanted to smack him a few times for his rough handling of the animals. But it does appear that some small amount of research was done before they packed him off into the field.

Hi ya'll, Joy i agree it wasent as bad as i thought it mite be. He did at least try to do some education bout some not all of the herps he cout, But the handling methods did get a little to rouph for my blood. I dont mind watching the guy, but i do wish that AP would try and promote more safe handlers than the 2 they use today, and i think we know who those 2 are. But for me the shpw was halfway desent. Well about the way he handled the mangrove snake, i thout he was just a little to rouph with the poor snake. You could tell the snake was stresed out by the way he was trying to run off and insted of leting the animal go onto a branch and rest he kept shaking him and floping him round. It was hard to watch that part. So what did evryone think of the reticulated python he cout at the end. Dose anyone think that retic was staged, by the crew? Well who knows as time gose on they mite tame the program down a little when they realies that, hes ways of agervating the snake dont teach good conservation. So lets hope that the ppl at AP deside to try and tame the show down...............happy herping Wally

I agree with someof the sentiments although I sat down to watch it with my nieces and nephew. They loved it. Austin got them thoroughly excited and intrigues by reptiles. I must admit it is entertaining to the max. Awesome.
