My friend from South Carolina sent me a shipment of snakes not too long ago that included two young cottonmouths. I have been trying to feed them both live and prekilled mice with no luck. Has anyone had success with any particluar prey item?

Judging from the date of your post, it could be that they have just knocked off feeding for the winter, as both cottonmouths and copperheads will spontaneously do. I have collected A. piscivorus in late August that would steadfastly refuse food until March. Once they begin eating though, they are not a problem - I have yet to see a cottonmouth that wouldn't eventually take frozen/thawed rodents. I have noticed that you can sometimes get a slow starter going on fish. It's great fun to watch them catch their own too. When I had the luxury of keeping two of them in an elaborate, filtered semi-aquatic setup, I would let chubs live in the water until they got caught.
Sorry about the late (and by now, probably moot) reply - I just now blundered into this forum.
