Just Curiouse but why not use the "sweater boxes" or other stacked/stackable plastic boxes made by Sterilite? I think rubbermade also makes similar items. This is what I use and it is easy to seperate sizes/sexes etc.

Rubbermaid and Sterlite containers could be used temporarily to house rodents. These containers are unsuitable to house rodents longterm as they will without a doubt chew them up.

This is true as mine have needed a few repairs-w-duct tape from time to time. I suppose my attraction is how cheap they are. I notice if the mice can't get to an edge to get started on they have trouble getting a hole started.
