Hi ppl, recently,i switched my sub-adult female T.albolabris to a lateral wooden cage.I have been keeping her in those "Pet Pals" tanks(the largest size)for quite sometime.I had her since she was a baby. The previous tank had no heating whatsoever, but the Hot room was well heated s I figured out that the heat is sufficient since she is eating, drinking and defecating well. But since switching her to the wooded cage, which has lighting which means there'd heat, she started to open her mouth, like gaping. Is this a way of expelling the excess heat? The cage is not very well ventilated, the sliding door with the side vents on the sides hardly provide any adequate ventilation.I think the temperature exceeds 28C but there are cool spots among the plants(alive ones). She seemed happy except for the gaping mouth.....should I switch her back?Stop the heating?Provide ventilation?Or is it normal for Trims to react this way?HElP!
P.S Although I keep mine in a "Pet Pals" tank,I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to follow suit unless you're absolutely sure what you're doing.I had mine since she was a baby,I know my snakes very well, tempers, habits etc.The reason I am swithing to custom made vivs is of course safety and the needs of the snakes."Pet Pals" are horizontal..and mine is getting big...they don't look good either.
Regards

You might try using a computer CPU fan at one of the vents, drawing the air out of the tank which will draw it in the other vent dispelling the heat but it shouldn't create too much of a draft that way. Karl
