I was able to purchase a copy due to the previous info. Great book so far except I have difficulty as an American relating to the recorded lengths. One question: Isn't one of the most widespread killers in Africa the saw scaled viper? When this book gives a list of the worst it includes puff adders, gaboons, carpet vipers, and a bunch of elapids. Even in looking in the index I didn't find saw-scaled vipers. I thought they had a huge range but am not sure exactly where in Africa, Asia, or in between they are native to. Do they have differnt common names?

is the scientific name echis carinatus? I answered my own question. it is and it is also know as the carpet viper which it is referred to in this book. I thought of that before but when I saw a map of its range it didn't seem to cover as much of Africa as I would have thought.

let me correct myself. The book breaks down a whole series of subspecies so the small range I was reffering to only included one subspecies.
