I'm not positive on this but I saw a show called " The 10 Deadliest Snakes of the World" and I belive it said the Fierce snake(also called Inland Taipan) was the most venomous. I don't know the scientific name but it's from Australia. Good luck with your report!

Most of the lists that I have seen list the three most venomous snakes as 3)Coastal Taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus) 2)Eastern Brown Snake (Pseudonaja textilis) and 1)Inland Taipan or Fierce Snake (Oxyuranus microlepidotus). These list are based on the LD 50 in mice. The lists vary depending on how the venom is injected (intravenous, intramuscular, etc.) Now do not take this as fact, because I am far from an expert, this is merely my understanding of the subject. As some the others mentioned, if you want an experts input, check out Bryan Grieg Frye's Australian Venom and Toxin database.

Boomslang Boy,
I have eastern Browns, Pseudonaja textilis and Both Coastal and Inland Taipans Oxyuranus scutellatus and O. microlepidotus and the most dangerous by far are the Coastal Taipans. these however are the least toxic in venom, but they provide a fairly large yield in comparison to the other 2.
As for all out toxicity it the inland Taipan, but memory serves me the Eastern Brown (Pseudonaja textilis) actully has a more potent neurotoxin than that of the Inland.
Personally the bite from all three is not wish on anyone but I would probably take the bite of an Eastern Brown over the other 2 due to its usually small yield and tiny fangs.
