here's what I tried to send you:
------------------------------------------------------
I have a few pics of the Stenophrys up on my website. Click on Collection/Breeding, and then bushmasters. There is a pic of my stenophrys there, but not a cage set up pic.
If you look at the muta pics, this one has a cage pic for my large adult cages:
http://www.matabuey.com/collection/species%20images/mutacage.JPG
My stenophrys is a 2 1/2 year male from Siquirres, Limon Province, CR. but right now I only keep it in a 48" Neodesha. Until they hit maturity around 4years, they can be kept in smaller cages, because they aren't that eager to explore. Once they hit maturity, they cruise the cage quite a bit.
I had imported 2.1 hatchlings in OCtober 2002, but the female died from stress about 2 days after arrival, and both males were doing great. I kept one, and sold the other one, but it is now at Dean RIpa's in North Carolina. I think he's trying to sell it.
Thanks
Matt

Quite a few large and impressive collections here! Makes me miss the old days...lol...sorta. As one anonymous poster pointed out so eloquently recently, I no longer keep hots, and I guess shouldn't be giving advice about them? That's a bummer. Oh well. Here's what I have...
1.1 Olive Pythons (female is possibly gravid)
1.1 Woma Pythons (female is probably gravid in hopefully in prelay shed)
1.0 Unicolor Cribo
1.1 Het Albino Ball Pythons, wee things
And several nonherps, too many to name, but of which the giant birds (emus and rheas) being the stars
Al, I noticed you seem a bit female heavy? Is there any specific reason for this, or are you like me, and just like the bigger, more impressive ladies?

Hi Chance:
It's just the way it's working out for now. I just don't like to buy related pairs for the sake of having a pair. Also I keep one snake per enclosure most of the time, just safer all the way around. I am currently looking for males for some species I keep. I'm really not sure which ones I may breed or not breed. I keep them for my enjoyment and not for showing off or flooding the market with all of the common Bitis I can produce. My Rhino is an exceptional specimen and I may breed her because of her colors if I find the right male. The Horned Puff Adder I will breed because of it's rarity. Young produced will be GIVEN or traded to my friends depending on the situation.
Cheers!
Al

I am temporarily on hiatus from keeping hots since I am stationed in San Diego and I did not want my wife, The Boss, to have to care for my hots while I am away. I will be getting back into keeping GA native hots in about a year and a half.
Until then (for now), we are keeping:
0.1 (25 year old) Colombian Rainbow Boa
0.1 Great Basin Gopher Snake
1.1 (het for albino) Bull Snakes
1.1 Sonoran Gopher Snakes
1.1 Tangerine Honduran Milk Snakes
0.2 (het for hypo) Tangerine Honduran Milk Snakes
1.1 (50/50 banded) California Kingsnakes
1.1 Striped California Kingsnakes
0.1 (desert phase) Striped California Kingsnake
1.1 Grey-banded Kingsnakes
1.2 Variable Kingsnakes (thayeri)
1.1 Prairie Kingsnakes
1.1 Desert Kingsnakes (splendida)
1.1 Coastal Rosy Boas
1.2 African Spurred Tortoises (sulcata)
1.1 Chinese Box Turtles (flavomarginata)
0.0.2 Leopard Tortoises
0.1 Russian Tortoise
2.0 Bearded Dragons
1.0 Shih Tzu
0.1 Shih Tzu / Dachshund mix
1.1 Rabbits (pets - not food)
and about 4,221 local neighborhood birds that we feed.
When I get back home for good, I intend to pick back up with Pigmy Rattlesnakes, Canebrake Rattlesnakes, Copperheads and Cottonmouths. I am contemplating breeding Eastern Diamondbacks but will hold off on that until I finish revamping my herp room. I want to have a bigger area to work in for these big buzzers.
