That's very unusual for sub-mariners, after 6mths at sea they are usually a bunch of sex starved, rather smelly, beer hungry males. They must of been on strict orders not to miss behave. Its all ways commendable when you can look back on occasions like that.

No offense taken Bryan. Submariners are a special class of "squid" and are often called "Bubbleheads" (but almost never to their face). I, too, have had the pleasure of raising a glass (or 20 - 30 glasses) with our British counterparts and found them to be quite a lot of fun. It is indeed a rare and different lifestyle to spend years of your life cooped up in a long steel tube with no women around for months at a time. Fortunately, we get to make port in various parts of the world and meet new and interesting people (and get to herp there too).
After 21 years of dedicated submarine life, calling me a squid is barely noticeable. I would say that calling us all sex starved, beer craving, etc would be a lot like saying that venomous snake keepers are tattooed, biker, malcontent, miscreants. That is, not entirely untrue but not representative of the vast majority either.
