I read your post earlier this morning. If you have the means necessary, please post a picture of the bite. Being that it is a neonate C.head. This will serve as an excellent learning tool for most everyone who keeps them.

Robert: The first thing Howard said was the copperhead was a yearling. A yearling is not a neonate. A neonate does not mean a young snake, it means a just born snake.

I think I made a mistake calling it a neonate. It is a yearling born last August??? I understand heohate is for those a month & younger.
The only pic I took was when it first struck andI was going to take a pic of the swollen hand but couldn't take a pic while having both hands next to each other for comparison.
I can post the bite pic if someone wants to see it. Is it possible that the snake only envenomated me-w-one fang? I really didn't suffer too much. I would say it was comparable to about 10 brown wasp bites at one spot. I can now make a fist-w-very little pain.
I think I got lucky and my immune system is in good shape I hope anyway. I still say not going to the hospital IN MY CASE was the correct decision and I still say if you keep hots you should not get in a position to get bit like I did. I should be fined by the venom police so send em over.
BTW I would say it is about 70 grams-it eats f/t large mice/not quite med rats yet. I put the bite in the photo album of bites. I'm not very experienced about posting pics on this forum so I hope it flies.

Great pic. Howard. You really lucked out. It looks like the [yearling] c.head only tapped you. Good luck.

Yup - I got lucky. Lesson learned. A week later and the hand is almost normal. I can palpate tender areas around the joints of my hand and I have a feeling it will be a while b4 that leaves.
