Hello, I was just wondering how well a massasauga would be for a "begginer hot" ? I searched the internet and couldn't find any care sheets or hardly any information on them. What kind of massasauga would be the best to start out with? Thanks everyone for your help.

Ok, first off, The Eastern Massasauga (Sistrursus c. catenatus) is a federally protected species. The species that you would get would be either the Western (S. c. tergeminus) or the Desert (S. c. edwardsi). Their care is much like that for the closely related Pygmy Rattlers. There is a lot of literature available on Pygs.
These snakes are unlikely to kill you, barring a sensitive reaction to the venom, but they can certainly hand out a nasty bite that will take the joy out of your day, bigtime. I'd say that they'd be a pretty good first hot, but there are other species that might be a little easier to get along with. I usually reccommend one of the Copperheads.
Wishing luck,
f
