Can someone give me some info about M. mauretanica (Nat. history, size, venom, care etc)?
My books about old world vipers and the taxonomy in them are abit outdated and only have small notes about it as a subspecies to M.lebetina.

This is what one of my references says on the Macrovipera genus. It doesn't go specifically into mauritanica. This is from the Encyclepedia of Snakes, copyrighted 1995. A recently resurrected genus containing four species previously regarded as belonging to vipera. They are found in North Africa, south-eastern Europe and western Asia: M.schweizeri is confined to a few small islands in the Cyclades group. The other species are M. deserti, M. lebetina and M. mauritanica. Medium sized snakes with thick bodies and broad heads covered with small scales. Terrestrial species that feed on small mammals. Their venom is more toxic than that of the Vipera species and they are potentially dangerous to man. Unlike Vipera species, they are oviparous. This may be info you already had.
