Thank you to every one who helped me on my previous topic. I come from south africa, and anti-venom isnt easy to find here for exotic species. So if i was to be bitten by a white lip,Would it be a serious bite??????
Cheers

Swelling, pain and local tissue damage primarily. Some problems with a decrease in platelets. The Handbook of Clinical Toxicology of Animal Venoms and Poison says that deaths to adults are rare. Supportive care in a hospital environment would most likely keep you alive, but local tissue damage would probably be more severe. Trimeresurus albolabris antivenom is available from:
Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute
1871 Rama IV Road
Pathumwan
Bangkok 10330
Thailand
Phone: 66-2-2520161-4
Price per 10ml vial is $40 US. Ask for "Green Pitviper Antivenom". Also works for T.macrops and T.purpreomaculatus.

Hey Chris,
Im curious, does the Handbook say T.purp is covered by the same AV? If I recall, the book said there was nothing produced which covered Mangrove pitviper envenomations, includeing the green tree pitviper av.
I have been without my book for some 6 months now however so I may be mixing things up.
Thanks for any help you can give!
Later bud,
Jeremy

The Antivenom Index published by the AZA says that Green Pitviper Antivenom covers T.albo, T.macrops, and T.purp.
