I just bought a pack of citrus wood shavings. Initialy I wanted to use it for my mice. I just wanted to know if it would be safe for snakes ? It`s high quality very fine wood shavings. But would citrus be toxic in any way for snakes ?
Anticipated thanks,
Alex S.

Hy,
I`ve visited the site of the manufacturers of theese wood chips from Germany and, from what little german I know, they are citrus sented. It doesn`t specify what tipe of wood it`s made of. I`ve written them an e-mail asking them to specify what kind of wood theese chips are made of.
Thanks,
Alex S.

Alex: I would stay away from the Citrus Scented Wood Chipps for your reptiles.
They would probably be fine for raising mice, but not suitable for snakes and lizards.
Citrus Oils have been used for many years to kill and repell insect pests, and I believe they might cause neurological damage to your snakes.
Best Regards JohnZ
