ATTENTION ALL VENOMOUS REPTILE KEEPERS!!!
You do NOT need to be a Delta Air Cargo certified shipper to ship venomous snakes. What you need to do is this:
1. Make sure you have an IATA compliant shipping crate ready to go
2. Call Delta Pet First at 888-736-3738
3. Tell them you need to book a flight for a live venomous reptile and book the flight 24 hours, or more, before the departure flight
4. On the date of the departure flight, take your shipment to your nearest Delta Air Cargo office usually at the closest airport.
5. It's best if you send the shipment collect, meaning they pay for the shipment when they recieve it.
If anyone has the live venomous reptile IATA regulations, please share it with us all so that we can abide by their regulations.

Yes. You do need to be a "known shipper" to ship venomous snakes via Delta. if your cargo desk is letting this slide, that is only because they are unaware. Next guy at the desk will be aware and your shipment will go nowhere.

I called the Delta 800 number last month about this issue when it came up on another forum. They DID confirm you NO LONGER need to be a verified shipper to ship venomous snakes. How good is the communication between the home office and the local Delta hub?
I would play it safe and call the local hub to verify they know this before making a trip to the airport.
And please know the regulations pertaining to your shipping box and contents. I hate to see this backfire from abuse for those of us that are certified and properly packing our animals.

I shipped some vipers a few months ago and that was the first thing she asked..."are you a known shipper".
Odd.

This sounds like a good change to Delta's regulations.
