Does anyone ever see jararacas in collections? I found one 20 yrs ago in Brazil while in the navy and would love to see one again....

I just got to photograph 2 at the San Diego Zoo on Saturday.
I haven't seen any in private collections though.

Incidentally, the San Diego zoo recently lost a pair of Jararacussus to some form of illness, hopefully the jararacas will go on display soon as one of them is quite “a little beauty”.

'Don't think so Matt. The last time I asked about the Jararacussus they had just past away and the keepers weren’t sure what had caused it. Given the fact that a durissus is in an adjacent cage and doing fine, I don’t think it was anything highly contagious. The next time I am there, I will ask.
