Alex im sorry to say that I haven't been fortunate enough, YET! They are mainly very isolated and small populations in southern England, but I belive they are been studied in the wild right now, In some form of park, wildlife haven, I am going to Cornwall s/w England and I belive that there are some Smooth snakes around that general area but will look up more, By the way went out again yesterday and found 4 Common Lizards, we never get Sand lizards unfortunately, I am marking captures with a Short term water based spray paint to save any re-captures to avoid stress, Strangely all the Common Lizards found are all female so far, ive seen many more but am getting to slow, to quickly, lol, I will keep posting my sightings on this thread to save writing/starting another thread, please feel free to ask for any info collected Alex, and good luck on your Snake venture over there, hope you pull it off, Going out again today as its still as warm but overcast so might find more Slowworms under my boards, keep in touch Alex, keyz.

Hi,
Don`t worry about not finding smooth snakes.
They live in almost all areas of Romania but I haven`t been able to find a live one yet. Even thow I traveled threw-out this country since 2000 in search of them. The thing is that they are not even rare here. I was just missfortuned. Sand lizards are the most common reptile species here, you cand find them almost anywhere, even in the heart of Bucharest.
I`ll keep you posted on my findings.
Take care and happy herping!

Yep, it has gone cold here too.
Actualy, it snowed in my town(situated in the N-E region of Romania) yesterday, bt it wasn`t cold enough for the snow to settle so it all melted.
Hopefully, it will get warmer soon so I can continue my herping.

Well we had a freeze 2 nights back and it has definitely upset the balance of the reptiles, as I went out yesterday and could only find a single Slowworm that was desperatly trying to get some warmth from under my metal sheet, I didn't see any other signs of lizards,If it warms up quickly enough I dont think there should be a problem,Although the slowworm I caught was a re-capture so it seems the numbers are still quite low. hope it gets better.
