wow thanks for the book lol, it really helped a lot. i really like hearing peoples personal experiences so that i can learn from them. i now know that a kaouthia has the capability to be extremely agro or extremely calm. i feel that this is a very important thing to know so that i can be ready for anything. keep the advice coming!

the consensus (spelling?) is probably kaouthia. i guess its up to you on whether your gonna get a baby, or a seemingly laid back adult. i know this should go without saying but why not say it, every kaouthia ive ever worked with (3 to date) have not even thought for half a second about riding a hook, they completely refuse to cooperate. you must have gentle giants when working with idividuals of any mentionable size. one more thing, when either of these 3 snakes hit the floor of the hot room, the only thing they wanted to do was escape. some may like that, but i found it slightly less nerve wracking then one charging me. sorry for my incoherent rambling, and good luck.

What ever snake you choose I would go with a young one, also like said be for stay away from the African snakes. But as far as for spitters ever black neck spitter I have handled was very calm other than it was like having a water hose turned toward you.
In all what ever snake you choose they are diffrent from vipers and the thing about cobras is they have a confedince in them. They tend to stand there ground and will charge. Which is unlike most all vipers. Just remember cobras rely on acting bad insead of being bad so if one charges you stand your ground and deal with the snake. In other words dont let it punk you out.
Good luck and be safe.
