Rocky: The first thing you need to do is fill in your Profile. After that, there should be many here who will be willing to help with feeding the Canebrake. JohnZ

Instructions for force feeding - Open little snake's mouth, and insert pinky mouse. But in reality, it's not that simple, and can be VERY hazardous. I know of a few people that have been tagged doing this.
I would love to make a "how to" video on topics like this, but the liability of it is pretty convincing otherwise. Suffice it to say, when handling small vipers/pitvipers, it is a good idea to have a second person standing by with a small spoon to hold between your flesh and the fangs in the event that the little guy starts reaching around for you. Personally, I like to use a set of hemostats or long tweezers to hold the pinky prior to insertion. Additionally, I like to dip the pinky in egg yolk so it will slide down easier.
Keep in mind, it is a VERY short distance between your fingers and the tips of those fangs. It is very easy to be bitten by a juvenile pitviper.
When you initally pin a juvenile or small-sized pitviper, the transition from pinning to 3 fingered grip is the most difficult portion, and the time when they are most likely to tag you. I like to use the hemostats to hold the lower jaw shut and assist the head/neck into the center of my 3 fingered grip. Almost every viper/pitviper will try to get you at least once. When they get it out of their system, they are easier to work with, but that doesn't mean it's over. Just remember to tie up the fangs with SOMETHING if they start reaching for you. I have personally used a hook, butter knife, spoon, hemostats, 60cc syringe, etc. -- anything but your fingers!
