King Cobra bite in the UK.

A 22 year old shop assistant working in a reptile pet shop was rushed to hospital today in Bristol, England after being bitten by a King Cobra. Adam Oxley is said to be in a stable condition in an intensive care unit after recieving anti-venom which was rushed to him from London. Do not yet know the size or age of the snake or the circumstances of the bite but hopefully he will pull through. Will post more info as i get it and may pay the guy a visit to show some support as it is only a short journey from where i live. Regards, Mark.

Here is another update on the King Cobra bite.

Won`t be long `til we see the articles about proposed new dangerous animal legislation in that area. You can see the process allready starting as you read the followup articles, and see all the talk about dangerous animals and permits.
If we read between the lines, it would seem that the person who was bitten was trying to get a problem King Cobra to eat by ``hand`` offering it a food item, probably another snake.
I am speculating that, because he did not use tongs to offer the food item, he was bitten. And I am speculating that this lack of judgement will lead to more restrictive regulations in that area. One dumb mistake or lapse of safety by a 22 year old kid will have an effect on all of the other venomous keepers in that area who did not make a handling mistake.
