The snake is a single snake, and it appears to be either Dromophis praeornatus, or Dromophis lineatus. Most likely D. praeornatus, but I am not familiar with this group, and it is difficult to be 100% sure without being able to do some scale counts.
There is a photo of D. praeornatus (which fits very well) in Chippaux's book "Les Serpentes de l'Afrique Occidentale er Centrale" (IRD Editions). Apparently, these are not even all that rare, but there is a real lack of accessible publications on herps from that part of the world.
