I knew about the photo site. But I have never seen any species accounts on that site. So I am still curious where your "data" came from.

I have also talked to Sean Graham a few years back and he was doing Cottonmouth studies in Clayton Co.(I think) where the Flynt River meets Camp Creek.

I spent the day up there yesterday -- granted I didn't see a cotton but I'm not surprised. It was way hot. Looking at the creeks they look just like the ones I find cottons in just a bit to the east, and it's right along the same latitude.
The population that Matt King redocumented last week in Northeast Georgia is farther north than those creeks.
The problem with the creeks in fulton county is accessability, there's nowhere to jump in and wade. The ones I looked at in fayette and clayton counties were much more accessible. It was 90 degrees and even the watersnakes that I saw were submerged. I'll check it on a cooler day.
Keep in mind we are not talking about dense populations that one would find in south Georgia. They are populations though.
Anyone have an email for Sean Graham?
Chad

Chad: I notice on the range maps that none of the Coastal Islands are shaded in, even though populations of Cottonmouths, Pygmys, and Diamondbacks are well known and documented from most of them.

Indeed- I'm only shading in when I actually get a record, so far I have none... got any personal observations you can contribute?

Sure. I have spent a lot of time on the Coastal Islands, some on personal camping / hiking / photography trips, and some while taking courses and working with the Marine Extension Service and NOAA.
A fair number of the specimins are well documented, and in pickle jars in the UGA collection on Skidaway and Sappelo Islands, and others are animals that I ran into while venturing on the islands.
On Tybee Island there are Cottonmouths.
On Ossabaw Island you can add Cottonmouths and EDB`s.
On St. Catherins Island there be Cottonmouths.
On Blackbeard Island add Cottonmouths and EDB`s.
On Sapelo Island add Cottonmouths, EDB`s, Coral Snakes, Dusky Pygmys, and Southern Copperheads. There is a large pickle collection of specimens on Sapelo at the UGA Lab of animals that have been found / collected over the years on the island.
On Wolf Island add EDB`s and Cottonmouths.
On Little Saint Simons Island add Cottonmouths.
On Saint Simons Island add Diamondbacks.
On Sea Island I have not found anything, but have heard from reliable people that EDB`s and Cottonmouths are there.
On Jekyll Island there be Cottonmouths and EDB`s, and I have a reliable report of a DOA Southern Copperhead.
On Cumberland Island there be Cottonmouths, EDB`s, and Dusky Pygmys.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards JohnZ
