I have noticed that question about state laws comes up very often on almost every forum I go to.
So I put it together for everyone that may need the answers.
Here is a link to Laws Governing Private Possession of Exotic Animals:

Hope it helps :)

Petra- Very nice job! How long did it take you to compile all that info? What did you use as a source to compile it?

I only used Internet. It's all out there if you look for it. I really don't know exactly how long did it take me to find what I needed. I got the idea few weeks ago. I see people asking and not getting many replies, usually they are told to call local DNR.
I remember Mardi Snipes used to have laws on his site and it was pretty convenient.
I don't work right now so I have plenty of time...I thought I may do something useful :)
To put it all together didn't take that long...I started last night and was done in the morning :D

I hope the web masters will take note of your list and give it a more prominant place on the web site.
I would hate to see it dissapear in a few days into the experts topics, although I will remember the post and still refer folks to it, as will many others here.
Chris H., Petra has created something very useful here, is there someplace on the web site where it might remain readily available?
Best Regards JohnZ

Petra,
That is outstanding and much appreciated! I especially like how it is not just specific to venomous reptiles, but rather takes all the guess work out of the laws pertaining to all species exotic and/or indigenous. This was a much needed resource. I will do a follow -up with Chris Harper our webmaster and recommend that this is placed somewhere on our site for quick reference.
Thanks again and know that your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed.
Sincerely,

I'm not trying to be critical but maybe I don't understand exactly what is suppose to be on this list. Example: I thought Hawaii would put you under the jail for having any type of snake but the list mentions nothing about owning snakes in Hawaii. And in Georgia you can't own native non-venomous snakes without a permit. As far as Georgia is concerned, the list by Petra only has "wild animals" listed. Native non-venomous snakes are considered "wild life" and not "wild animals" under Gerogia law and they are also not on the list. I just think these animals should be included also before someone looks at Petra's list and doesn't realize that they can't own a scarlet kingsnake in Georgia and ends up in hot water with DNR. But other than that, I think this list would be a great asset to people.

I have emailed the Georgia DNR and am waiting on their reply so I'll update it as soon as I can.
I have searched the Internet for ever and this is all I could come up with. I actually do appreciate mentioning that. This way I can fix it.
Also these are only state laws, city laws or county laws may always be more strict. That's why I put contact info on it too.

Roadkruzer, the Georgia info is complete now. I'm still waiting on Missouri DNR to get back to me on their natives...I should have it all covered soon though :)
