Ok I got my forms. I'm gonna get the ball rolling. I hope this works it all seems kinda like a pain in the ace. Is this import permit and all that only good for on use?
I was just wondering if I could go through a breeder or a zoo and buy it like that? Just curious.
Thanks all for the great info.

ok thats good to know. I will be ordering my supply soon I hope.
I wish they wouldn't make it so hard to aquire a personal supply of AV. Anyway I'm gonna get this process started.
It will be worth it in the long run. I'm really not worried about getting tagged but if it was to happen. I wanna know I was prepared and so was my doctor and everyone else that will have to be involved.
Well I'll keep ya posted on my progress.
Thanks again
Eric

It would be helpful to people considering a snake if those who have bought antivenom for a particular "exotic" snake for themselves or a zoo or VENOM1 or whoever, if they would put the exact cost of it when they bought it. Even if it was several years ago, it would give a fairly reasonable estimate of the cost now.
Such as: SAIMIR $§¥
Bivalent Naja / Walterinnesia Snake Antivenom $þ¤
Polyvalent Antisnake Venom Serum $µ¢
SII Polyvalent Antisnake Venom Serum ( lyophilized ) ( Central Africa ) $ÐÞ
SAIMR Boomslang Antivenom $þ©
Purified Bungarus multicinctus Antivenom $©þ
Bivalent Antivenom Elapid, Naja-Bungarus antivenin $¤¢
Death Adder Antivenom $¢§
Polyvalent Snake Antivenom ( Australia - New Guinea ) $¤©

As most of these are produced in foreeign countries and the exchange rate varies significantly how about a relative scale - Crofab, CSL (Australia), Aventis Pasteur, Bioclon: Expensive(many hundreds $$$). SAIMR products, Thai Red Cross products, Instituto Butantan, Costa Rica Instituto Clodomiro,Croatia Inst. of Immunology, Taiwan Nat.Inst.Prev.Med., Peru - relatively inespensive ($200.00 or < per vial (sometimes much less than even $100.00. Those are the ones with which I am familiar, and there are numerous other producers with which I am not familiar.

I afraid that a relative scale doesn't help me plan much. The only antivenom I have heard anyone willing to say the price on was CroFab which was about $1000/vial which may be accurate or not and isn't an exotic snake antivenom.
The ones I listed are the specific ones I want to know the price on for whenever someone bought them, now or the past. Would someone please share that information? The people who are always recommending people buy antivenom should find this easy to do.

The best way to determine price is to contact the antivenom producer directly - the exchange rate fluctuates on a daily basis, the antivenoms need to be replaced every 2 - 3 years (based on expiration date). Some of the proponents of purchasing AV may not have made an AV purchase in a few years. That makes it hard to give you an exact figure. Contact the producer and they will give you a current price.
There are a host of antivenoms, so you are asking a much bigger quation than you might be aware. Aslo the latest price I have for Crofab is $1225.00 US.
