Hello everybody,
During my research about the Crotalus Cerastes I was investigating other species also and I came across with the Vipera Monticola...is this a different species from Vipera Latastei? if yes...any comments about this wonderful animal?
Regards
Jorge

Jorge, I believe that Lataste`s Viper (Vipera latastei) and the Mountain Viper (Vipera monticola) are now consider distinct species. At one time, monticola was considered a sub-species of latastei.
Please see this page titled Venomous Species of the World, compiled by Sierra, at :

Hope this helps. Best Regards JohnZ

Alex, apparently they were seperated in 1999 by McDiarmid and Campbell. Before that they were listed as Vipera latastei monticola and Vipera latastei latastei.
McDiarmid RW, Campbell JA, Touré T. 1999. Snake Species of the World: A Taxonomic and Geographic Reference, vol. 1. Herpetologists' League. 511 pp. ISBN 1-893777-00-6 (series). ISBN 1-893777-01-4 (volume).
Best Regards JohnZ
