In the classifieds a person had an add for an adoption of a female ball python so i sent her an email saying i have room for her and does she ship she replied today with this:
Thanks for your mail. I am in Cameroon - Africa so if you want her she must only
have to be shipped to you. Shipping is available with security guaranteed.

i would like to get your guys opinion before i send her the money for shipping or not

Greg, do not send them any money.
You will never recieve anything back from them.
 Hope this helps.

Don't do it. First of all it is a scam. Second there are plenty of ball pythons right here in the USA that need adoption, many are free, some have require a donation to the rescue outfit (a quick google search will turn them up). Third ball pythons are native to West Africa which is where Cameroon is, so I doubt they need adopting or rescue from there.

Like one of my buddies you to tell me, "Does a 1 legged duck swim in a circle." I dont think they do, but it sure is a funny saying. Yes of course it is a scam, and the guy above me is right about adopting a homeless African snake, from Africa.

More generally, if anyone from another continent offers to ship you a live animal just for sending money for "shipping", even if it's not a scam, per se, it's probably going to be done illegally. I can't imagine it would cost less than a few hundred dollars to get that "free" snake through customs and an exporter on their side and an importer, customs, and Fish and Wildlife on this side. If they don't mention any of that, run.
