Bear with me all , I don't claim to be a herp-a-anything . Think the southwest here , how "mild" is the venom of a hog nosed snake ? Same question for a brown vine snake ? Thanks ,
Kenny

Unless there are mitigating factors such as allergic reaction or extremely poor health, neither should be life threatening. Neither would be any worse than a beesting to a person for whom that is not a health issue. Both may be longer lasting than that, but not a real problem.

Also, they have short rear fangs which are not very efficient for biting something that is not already lodged in their mouths, like a toad they are planning to swallow. So they need to munch a while with a chewing action to inject much of their venom (which is more like a mildly toxic saliva, as I understand it) to be injected into the prey/target.

Thanks , this is my ongoing education , I'm wanting to know what my daughter will have to be taught about . For me this move is great , I love the desert , and will get to go out taking pictures of as many rattlesnakes as I can find . BTW I didn't know we even had a vinesnake in this country , LOL !
