some people don't approve,i know the ethics involved with hybrids and morphs, etc, but this hybrid is just a badass looking snake. it's a very pretty animal. you can really see the characteristics of both. are the offspring sterile or can they reproduce?

What ever this mongrel is, he is assimilating well. He ate two pinks today. Think he is going to be ok after a rough start on life. Ricky, I think most can reproduce. My friend that breeds them is currently looking to cross out an existing cottonhead with a cantil and produce the 1st 3 way cross, that we know of.

Hey Chuck, I saw that little cotton at the show too.In fact I was standing there when you were talking to the guy about his big backyard holding tank that he puts all his WC cottonmouths and copperheads in.It deffinately looks like an intergrade to me.Glad to read you bought it, be sure to post some pics after it sheds. Well, I am getting a lot of varied opinions. People I trust to be knowledgeable are calling it both ways. For my own edification I set up pics of a juvenile cotton and copper from this locale and set up the pic of my tba snake for comparison. Here is what I came up with, and in my opinion, I am leaning toward the hybrid theory.

Hey Chuck, can u get us a better pic of the animal, particularily ventral pics or a profile pic of the head. The animals head is very much piscivorus but I would love to have some clearer definition before I make my analysis (having just a touch of experience with aggies) I would love to see some different views of the animal, It is quite different needless to say, but again I would need some more pics before a definative.

Chuck, the pics you posted of a Copperhead and Cottonmouth really did not help at all.
Once the snake sheds it skin, post some good photos of it`s body and it`s facial pattern and shape.
That would help a lot.
We are wasting our time here trying to guess what an animal is from a blurry cell phone photo.
Best Regards JohnZ
