I finally found one at the hamburg show today. I snapped a few pics before placing it in the enclosure. It is WC and unsexed but looks to be very healthy.
I know the reputation of the snakes being hard to keep so I'm applying all I have learned and hoping for the best. I shuld be ok everything is as it should be I will keep everyone posted.

I was there and saw them and almost bought one. Did the guy at the table tell you what he was feeding it?

Who did you purchase it from by any chance? Also, since it is WC, please get a fecal done and treat the parasites accordingly. Good luck on getting the specimen established, as most Atheris hispida are destined to die due to poor exporting practices where the snakes suffer from dehydration and many other issues that often prove fatal.

I saw those too. They seemed like they were in good shape. Some of the other animals at the show were horrible, and really emaciated. Won't mention any names. But if I did, I know some people wouldn't be surprised.

I think the guys name was Marty Peidl, I won't swear to that. I have seen him at the shows for a long time now and he always has quality reptiles.
So far so good the little guy looks like he's about to shed so I will hold off trying to feed him till after I hope he eats I'm not out of the woods yet after I see him eat I will feel 100% better. I wil hit the vets this week just as a precaution. I'll keep everyone posted
