I read the article from the news item page , and it seems more than likely the man couldn't leave the snake alone , and as a result he managed to kick it into the carriage and kill his own baby . The article says the snake " jumped " into the carriage . What are the chances ?

What are the chances? 0.0%
But I'd say there's a 10% chance of a bad translation, a 5% chance the guy offed the kid intentionally and an 85% chance a father doing something something mildly dumb, out of fear, got REALLY unlucky and had a tragedy that he couldn't have been expected to forsee.

i read that when is passed around the "venom list," as it was worded, seems to me the father was trying to kill the snake and ended up kicking it onto his child.

That's what I was thinking , just a very unlucky accident . If he had left the snake alone , everybody would likely be fine . I did wonder though , whether he worded it that way or the press did .

I was figuring a case of trying to kick the snake and it managed to latch onto his shoe and when he drew back, the snake flew the wrong way...
