We found our first coral snake last week while turkey hunting. It was crossing a sandy road with thinned out pines on each side. It was around 8:30 in the morning and was 62 degrees. Is it normal for them to be out in those conditions?

Kyle, that is very normal for Coral Snakes. They like crawling early and late in the days, and are often found out at cooler temperatures than other snakes.

almost all the corals I've found were early in the morning before the sun was up good. Nearly impossible to get herpin buddies to wake up and cruise that early though. They just don't believe it can happen :-p
Stuff I've found before or at dawn: corals, cottons, garters, watersnakes. All were in temps that were too cool for me to have short sleeves on.
