Andrew Wyatt, with a groundswell of grassroots support from the NCARK membership has convinced Senator Ed Jones to completely remove reptiles from the API bill known as SB1477. With Thursday's crossover deadline looming API may have run out of time. They have failed to even get the bill heard in committee. It may still happen... and there is a slim chance that it could pass committee, but to get the other two votes needed to get it out of the Senate seems unlikely. Either way reptiles are out! More details will be forthcoming in a press release following the Thursday deadline. This victory has National implications.

Big congtats to the citizens of North Carolina, NCARK, and all involved in steering this proposal into the trash where it belongs. The Animal Rights Activists are now 0 for 3 in the Carolinas! These same AR groups met a similar fate trying to get Dorchester County, SC to pass breed specific legislation against pitt bull terriers 2 weeks ago. More than 60 people representing SCARK were present to insure it would fail consideration. Again congratulations!

Sigh. I love my state. Sure, we have a higher ratio of nut jobs than the rest of the world (except maybe California), but at times that can be advantageous ;)

Good work, Mr. Wyatt! Do us a favor & post up details on how we can join NCARK. I don't live in NC & don't keep snakes any more, but that, my friend , is a group worth supporting.

Sorry I am slow to post back... I have been out of town. Thanks for the words of encouragement... and thank you Derek for posting our web address. Greg we would love to have you as a member. Your knowlege and experience would be invaluable as we try to take our message and our model nationwide.
I will be writing an article to be posted soon detailing what happened here in NC and how we manged to upset the well organized and well funded Animal Protection Institute (API).
SC is high on the list of targets for API. Their strategy is divide and conquer. Y'all can't afford a rift in your community right now. Please set aside personal differences and petty disagreements. United you are strong divided you are doomed to fail.
NCARK will be at the Columbia Show next month. We will be there in force. If you are reading this, and are a member, I expect you to be there. This is the time for a show of strength and unity. API can not stop our COLD BLOODED MAFIA if we all work together. Join Us & Help Protect Your Rights!!!
