last Tuesday I was contacted by a guy wanting to get rid of a snake, all he told me that it was a Texas Rat Snake and that it was White? I thought what is the chances, but I thought what the heck I'll bite. I got there where we were to meet and he brings out a 7 ft Leucistic Trans-Pecos Rat Snake!!!! (Male) Man what a beauty!!! Tame as a kitten! Now I am looking for a good looking female, anyone have one!?

Seven foot suboc? Boy, I'd have to believe that to see it. Please post a pic and have someone holding it for scale - that would be a monster if its true but I'm real skeptical.

The reason for the skepticism is that Trans-Pecos rat snakes are known to reach five and one half feet, tops.
Is there any possibility that you have mis-identified the snake? Texas rats are much more likely to reach seven feet.

Ok, before everyones panties gets in a twist, the boy called it a Texas Rat, but he doesn't really know his rear from a hole in the ground. It is pure white with the bulgy eyes just like the Suboc , now that I have a laptop I will get a good pic and post it on this thread soon, if I miss-identified then ok, I have been known to be wrong before, but it does have a different head than my local Black Rat Snake, either way still a good steal, since I got it for free! And He eats really good.
How should I post the pic, through photobucket, copy and paste the tag identity?

Shawn, re-read your post. You said that you were there and identified the snake as a trans pecos. I don't think anyone has their panties bunched up and I take a lot of offense to that kind of crappy remark when you made such a bold statement as you did. I know you meant no harm in the original post and like you said, you got a free snake so that's great but be careful in making jabs back at folks when a little justified skepticism was in order. The only thing I mentioned is that it would be nice to see a verified pic/measurement of this snake - it would most likely be a record which would be significant and something the herp community would want to know about.

Shawn, posting the link to the photo in your Photobuckett Account would work just fine.
Looking forward to seeing just what the critter looks like.

I find it hard to swallow also, sounds like a texas rat that has bug eyes, common deformity for leucistic texas rats.

Exactly what I was mistaken. Leucy TX Rats often have one or both eyes that stick out quite a bit more than usual, so it might make the animal appear similar to a suboc. I saw nothing to warrant offense, just a simple misidentification it appears. Post a pic anyway!

Ok, yes I appologize for any quick jabs to all of you it was uncalled for. You all are the experts I just come here to read what is going on in the World and to get a little more knowledge if possible?! I looked up Texas Snakes and found a picture of a Leucistic Texas Rat Snake curled around a Red hat, mine seems to look just like it, but I am now going to go out and try to get a couple of good pics and post them so we all can make a better identity. like I said I am not the expert , I am just excited of a new snake!
give me some time to get a pic on here and thanks to Rob, JohnZ for being open minded and quick to respond.
