Management Wants Man To Remove Pet Reptiles From Condo
POSTED: 3:44 pm EDT March 31, 2008
UPDATED: 6:57 pm EDT March 31, 2008
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- An Alexandria man is fighting to keep his collection of snakes and other reptiles in his family's condominium, but property management says they have to go.
In 11 aquariums, Nick Ignacio has ball pythons, two and half foot lizards, a bearded dragon, mice and frogs. The animals share his sixth-floor condo with his fiancée and 2-year-old son.
The condo's covenants committee wants the reptiles gone in six months and has made rules to keep them in their aquariums.
"I'm not allowed to take them out of their cage, which is neglectful if I were to not do that, because they need to be taken out to be bathed," Ignacio said.
"Most disturbing, it says we're not allowed to bring in anymore crickets, which four of our reptiles only eat live crickets," he added.

The reptiles have been with Ignacio at the condo for two and a half years, but his YouTube postings showing him holding them have drawn the attention of neighbors and property management.
The property manager said the reptiles are a pet rules violation. The rules are specific about the number and type of pets allowed.
Ignacio said they should be likened to fish in an aquarium and are not a danger.
"The bylaws don't pertain to exotic pets, and that's unfortunate because we've had these here for two and a half years and we've taken in many and given them to good homes, to people that can take care of them, and they pose no harm to anyone," Ignacio said.
If the animals are not removed in six months, Ignacio will lose cable and pool privileges and will stop receiving packages.

Actually, in the rambling posts concerning the copperhead, he says that he only had it a couple of days but had to get rid of it for his child's safety.
Either way, he is an attention prostitute, posting only to get a reaction and he gets plenty of it.
I hate YouTube.
It puts every stupid idea that you can come up with right out there for the rest of the world to see and emulate.
What a waste!

Can't say I'm sorry or surprised. At least he might not post those awful videos anymore.

I hate to hear about anyone loosing there reptiles even if they brought it upon themselves. He wanted the attention and now he's got it.

Karl, your are right about 99% of the UTube and MySpace videos on the internet.
Many of the videos are really disgusting, and just proof that the average person out there should not be allowed to own a video camera. Especially the morons out there.........
It does not help when idiots like the wild boyz get into a cage with cheetahs and try to race them and get clawed up in the process. Morons like that should never be allowed to air their nonsense.............
There is a ray of hope though, when we see educational videos like those posted by Al Coritz about his vipers. Those are educational, and not sensationable.
With any luck, the net will self regulate itself, and weed out the junk. However, I am also about 99% sure it wont, as I am about 99% sure that most folks on this planet are morons........
Best Regards JohnZ

Regarding YouTube, I was never into it, and to be honest, to this day I didn’t really watch many videos myself, because you r right, most suck, and I simply have no time to go thru 60 minutes of garbage to find 2 minuets of good stuff.
But it is a tool that can be abused or used well, just like a gun or car, if used correctly, serves purpose in life, if used incorrectly, can kill.
We started producing REXANO videos simply to balance all the anti exotic ownership AR stuff that is already there, and we need more pro exotic animal ownership, not muffy stuff, the good educational stuff.
We have this video:
Wild & Exotic Animal Attacks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glYLDsRMhi4
it was uploaded 2 months ago and has almost 17,000 views, our most successful when it comes to views, simply because people want to see gore, this one is just cute spoof of the word ‘attack’, and some who clicked on it are OK with the spoof, some kids get extremely nasty and write us dirty emails how dare we not to post real bloody attacks.
These kids are lost cause, but this shows us what public wants and what we often have to use as ‘bait’ to get them interested, but the very few that get the ‘attack’ joke might actually get more interested in our cause, visit our website, read about AR and naive legislators’ threats, etc…we keep educating.
You never know when you will find somebody great.
