Your profiles says that you are a "herpetologist" - if that's the case you should be very well versed on writing for journals, etc. Where did you graduate from college? If I am missing something just let us know. If you are a youngster, then I would use the word "amateur herpetologist" so folks know where you are coming from. If that's the case, my advice is to read other articles to get a feel for the format. When I first started writing, it was not very good. Through time, though, your skills will improve dramatically. Just write, write and write as much as you can....and make sure you always give credit where credit is due. Hope that helps.
