I know this can be a sensitive topic w some of the guys, but we have all done it at some point or another. What is the first hot that u guys actually found, and brought back to civilization? After watching them in the woods since i was about 10 (the parents DEFINATELY did not want snakes in or near there house, the irony) i saw C.horridus and N copperheads in the
cave mtn,Lake moomaw area of w Va but it was not until college that i could actually bring one home, and of course, some many exotics in so many years, i got to bring home a WC n copperhead when in danville in college (since i wasnt living w my parents lol) as i came back from a bonfire the HUGE male was stretched out, middle of the road. Eventually let him back go but kept him in my room for a week or two, the hots started there lol. Anyone else?

Caught a Copperhead at age 12, and kept it in the basement in a locking wooden cage that I had built.
The family did not know about it, as it was kind of in the back corner of the workshop on a shelf.

The first WC that I brought home was a gorgeous yellow phase timber from NW NJ in the late '60s. Two years later, I took it back to where I found it and let it go. I couldn't bear to keep it in captivity.

My first hot was a cottonmouth I caught on a fishing trip in So. Illinois in 1976. I kept it through the summer and returned it where I caught it in the Fall. Marty
