A viper like this one was found by police in a sink in a Delaware home
Police were called to the scene of a domestic dispute. When they went inside, they discovered one of the most deadly snakes known to man.
Thursday night, police received reports of a violent domestic dispute at the Fieldcrest Apartments. When police went inside the home, officers noticed several glass tanks housing snakes.
The officer, an avid Animal Planet and National Geographic fan according to police, identified one of the snakes as a Gaboon Viper, one of the ten deadliest snakes in the world.
Other tanks contained one Venezuelan rattlesnake and one Pygmy rattlesnake, both of which are poisonous.
Police say 23-year-old Anthony Conway did not have the proper permits for the dangerous vipers.
They were taken away by animal control.
Conway faces charges in connection with the domestic incident.

Arin, ld50 is not the end all be all of ophidian toxicity. A perfect example is the fact that bushmasters are about as toxic as NA copperheads based on that chart. And furthermore, the snakes that cause the most fatalities, are hardly every mentioned. Puff adders, sawscales, and kraits are never talked about. As for gaboons in particular, i have never heard of ANYTHING remotely good about recovery from the bite (even if u survive a blast from a gab, your limb will never be the same).

Wether the police were right or not about Gaboons being among the 10 most deadly snakes in the world, the fact is that this nit-whit got into a fight with his wife, or, who ever he was living with, and that allowed the cops to search his house.
If he had avoided the domestic dispute, or had taken it elsewhere, the problem with the snakes would have not have been part of it.
Hopefully, the snakes he was keeping will make it to Zoos and Natural History Centers, where they can help educate the public.

After hearing Dean Ripa describe his Bushmaster bites, I would pick a Copperhead to get bitten by, any day !

In addition to the gaboon the snakes included a Venezuelan rattlesnake, a pygmy rattlesnake and two beautiful, high red, rhinoceros vipers (what are they called? Uturu phase, or something like that?) The snakes were being kept illegally and all were euthanized by authorities. Another bozo feeding the hysterics.

You are right; They all rank up there as being one of the deadliest snakes in the world so the officer was correct. You could say that about an EDB or even the Mojave. If it's a super venom then it's one of the deadliest.....

Dear God, I'm so happy my wife and I don't argue to the point, where police have to be called in.
