Gerald, almost all of the roads in the Apalachicola region can be good for Eastern Diamond-Backed Rattlesnakes. Both sand roads and paved roads.
It is often more a matter of luck and timing, than location. Avoid the roads with heavy trafic. You want a road that the snake will take its time crossing, or, even better, will be basking on. The last couple of hours before dark can be good this time of year. Just make sure if you are cruising paved roads at that time of day, that they are not so hot that the snakes will not crawl up onto them. An instant reading temp gun works well for this. Also, you need to cruise the roads early in the morning for the same reason. After they heat up, the snakes will not be out on them, or will be crossing them very quickly.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards John Z

There are TONS of areas in and around ANF with edbs, find a nice early morin, and walk a woodline or slow cruise a road. We saw some very nice pitvipers there this spring, good luck with them.
