Some of you allready know that I am developing an Elapid First Aid Snake Bite Kit, and even had prototypes at the last Columbia Show, where I gave them to several Elapid keepers for evaluation. This kit is based on Snake Bite Kits that are readily available in Australia.
The kit will have two 4 inch wide compression bandages, and two triangle bandages, and an illustrated instruction sheet, which will show how to use the Australian Compression Wrap Technique for Elapid bites. These kits when finished will be available on my EBay Store and at Reptile Shows for a reasonable price.
Right now, I would like to send kits to a few Snakebite Envenomation Specialists, venom labs, medical folks, and advanced keepers for evaluation and feedback on the instruction set.
So, Chris Harper, Joe Pittman, Jeffrey Fobb, Ernie Jillson, Doug Holte, Terry Phillip, Jim Harrison, Dr. Bryan Fry, Al Coritz, and Matt Harris, please EMail me an Snail Mail Address at jzegel@mindspring.com and I will get a kit out to you for evaluation, if you are willing to help on this, and evaluate my instruction sheet. Right now, the instructions take up 2 pages, but the finished kit will have three pages of info and instructional photos.
Also, those of you who allowed me to use your photos, Thomal E., Larry F., and Eric G., I also need a Snail Mail Address for you so that I can send you a finished kit.
Also, those of you who have allready recieved kits for evalustion at the Columbia Show, please send me feedback when you get a chance to read over the instruction set.
Also, if you are reading this forum, and are a envenomation treatment specialist, let me know, and I will get a kit to you for evaluation also.
This kit will be appropriate for use on Coral Snake bites, and for the bites of many Elapid snakes, including Sea Snakes, Kraits, most Australian Snakes, and many, but not all Cobras. It will help slow the spread of venom by the Lymphatic System and Skeletal Muscle pumping, until a medical facility with the proper antivenin can be reached.
I look forward to hearing from you all, and am hoping that we can work together to bring a superior product to market, at an reasonable cost.
Best Regards John Z

Thanks Joe ! EMail Sent.
It is my sincere hope that these kits will be there "just in case" and will not have to be used.
Rob, send me your snail mail address, and I will get a kit out to you. Cutt and paste jzegel@mindspring.com from here, and do not use the link in my Profile here.
For some computer related reason, EMail that folks try to send by clicking on the link in my Profile here on this site does not make it through to my computer.
Best Regards John Z

Fantastic idea John,
It's scary that some people buying Elapids at shows have no clue about this life saving technique.
I met this guy at a Hamburg Show who just bought two large Black Mamba's (not for me!) and was asking me about what he should do if bitten since he lived about a half mile from the nearest Fire House/EMS station. He did not know about pressure bandages and how to use them at all.
Please send me your ebay site URL so I can have a look.
Best,
Al
