The animal rescue person Burton guesses "the snake got into Ranger's washing machine through water pipes."
That is a very dumb statement. Incoming water pipes are 1/2 or 3/4 inch in diameter, and the drain on a washing machine is 1 inch or 1 1/4 inch at maximum.
What is the snake, Houdini or something ?
The snake would have to have gotten into the washing machine through the door.
It had to crawl in there on its own through an open washing machine door.
Or, it had to get there in a load of laundry.
Or, someone had to put it in there to create a scare.
Or, it was "beamed" in by Scotty of Star Trek.
Best Regards John Z

If they find out who that snake belongs to, I would like to have dibs in giving that person a beat down. I'm getting sick and tired of idiots keeping snakes without secure caging, and tired of morons turning their snakes loose because they can no longer afford to feed it or properly house it.
I've had some phone calls over the last few months from retic and boa owners either looking to sell or adopt out their snakes. I guess $4 gas is putting some in a financial bind when it comes to snake care. Still its no excuse for turning a snake loose.
This sounds harsh but if I couldn't afford to take care of a very large snake, and couldn't find it home, then I guess a .22 to the head will solve that problem. It's better than turning it loose. I pray though I would never have to make that decision.

I just dont think people will ever learn. I get so sick of hearing about people getting a snake they know will become very large and than set it loose. I remember a few years ago they found two monocle cobra's at a local apartment complex a few miles from my house. Luckly they were captured before anyone was bitten and possibly killed. They never found out what idiot set them loose or did'nt secure them enough.
Like there's not enough bills trying to stop this hobby these idiots are giving them ammo, and than the media gets a hold of the story and turns it in to some over blown "snake attack" story. I know that is not said in this story, but, this is one of very few thats not stated as a snake attack.
I dont care what the situation was, financle, the snake's size or whatever I will never set a snake loose. If I had to get rid of one I would search and find it a good home even if it took years. My pets= family.

If this trend of ‘banning something for everybody because of few idiots’ continues, where will it lead?
Ban exotics because few owners are idiots, ban guns because few owners are idiots, ban cars because few drivers are idiots, ban food because few people die of food poisoning….ban human reproduction because few parents are abusive idiots,...well, that sure would solve human overpopulation issues …
SCARY trend, by letting the government set the precedent that it is OK to ban something for everybody because of the mistakes of the few, we are letting a very dangerous precedent (slippery slope) take place.

That was some animal rescue place, wasn't it? What with putting the retic in a tank with no hidebox, substrate or water, & securing the lid with a weight.

Just wait until next legislative session when the constrictor spitting cobras form NC start hogging space on this forum as well as in the news channels.;-)
