I'm Very interested in this topic and any info is appreciated since I have a pair of corals in my collection now. I'm wondering if the Wyeth product shelf life has been extended, will it be "weaker"? Maybe take more vials to do the job? I've heard that allot of drugs are still good after the experation date, they just loose some of the potency. Not sure if thats true or not. Marty

The theory behind the expiration of a medication is that after a medication has reached its self expiration date that it loses a percentage of its effectiveness. And for each additional year past expiration that effectiveness decreases another percentage. Initially we would continue to recommend the standard dose of antivenom which is 3-5 vials of the Wyeth antivenom and just as with any other case give additional vials as needed.
With regards to a list of healthcare facilities still maintaining stock of antivenom (Wyeth), I currently have only those hospitals in Central Florida, and outside of Miami-Dade and Zoo's-there are no Florida hospitals to my knowledge that stock Coralmyn currently although Karl has stated that there are but he is not at liberty to disclose them to me.
I have a meeting with Cesar Reyes from Bioclon in the coming weeks and will hopefully be able to provide more info on Coralmyn then. Stay tuned!
