I had a pair of yearling gaboons living in the same tank...the female crawled across the male and he sank his fangs into her head...KILLING HER...they were the same size and had been together for a while and were not fed in their tank...anyone heard of anything like this before???

Yep, it happened to some of my cobras that I kept together, but they didn't die. My bud had the same problem, but not with gabonica. Bummer, Tim

HMMM--I'VE HEARD OF IT BEFORE WITH OTHER PEOPLE. I HAD A HERP ASSOCIATE AND INTERNET FRIEND RELATE A STORY OF 2 GABOONS THAT HAD BEEN SHIPPED TO HIM BY A FRIEND. SOMEWHERE IN TRANSIT--EACH SNAKE HAD BITTEN THE OTHER ONE: BOTH DIED. I HAVE A PAIR OF WESTERN DIAMONDBACKS AND ONE DAY THE FEMALE BIT THE MALE DIRECTLY IN THE HEAD--HE DIDN'T DIE, BUT HE ALSO CONTORTED IN SOME PRETTY MESSED UP WAYS FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEN DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL FOR ANOTHER 45. I WAS A TAD WORRIED AND BEGAN THINKING ABOUT WHO I COULD FEED HIM TO WHEN HE STARTED MOVING AGAIN. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS SPECIMEN STILL TO THIS DAY IS NOT FEEDING AS WELL AS HE SHOULD NOW. I SUSPECT THE BITE HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT.

A couple of month ago one of mine Xanthina, the big female, striked at the smaller female and hit very close to the eye. Right after the bite the eye turned red. She didn't looked good at all and I was very worried about her. I placed her in a petbox so she could be alone, later, maybe a week the eye looked "more normal" again, and after a couple of weeks I tryed to feed her, and YES...
Now I have just picked them up from the hibernation and she seems to be healty. Well, she sounds like she is very healthy... shhhss

That's what happened to my female...she had some white foam drool out of her mouth and sort of wiped it on the side of the tank...it was real thick...then she died about 2 hours later
