Never thought of obesity. I will say I've watched the Gaboons at the serpetarium in Wilmington NC quickly out grow my Gaboon over the last 5 years since the place opened. I've only fed her about five rabbits, all medium, and its been a couple years due to lack of availability. I've been doing large frozen retired breeders for about 1.5 years. Usually I wait about 1.5-2 weeks after she deficates to feed again. So usually every 4-5 weeks. Some times I feed a little more in the warmer months. I'll have to check her jaw like you said. Is this condition reversable with toning down the feeding size and fequency? I just always assumed due to her width that a really large rat would be fine. Maybe I should excercise her more (LOL).

Hi Ian
I would expect most cases of obesity to be reversable if caught in time. My durissus didn't make it unfortunately , but then I'd left it too late.
This is only a suggestion, it may not be what is affecting your gaboon, it may be something completely different.
However, It does sound like a good famine period would do you gaboon no harm though.
All the best , hope all turns out well,
Al
