I know many hate auctions, but this year concentrating on how exotics boost economy is one of the best ways to fight AR exotic bans, such as HR669, no emotions, no conservation crap, MONEY TALK! (one of my fav AC/DC songs :) )

Macon, Mo -
MACON - Buyers come from all over the country to see what is being sold at the Lolli Brother’s Spring Exotic Animal Sale.
An Iowa woman watering a large dog and a couple puppies next to her van said it was her second year coming to an Exotic Sale in Macon.
“We like to see what they have,” she said. “It’s fun. My husband is inside. I let him do the buying.”
Throughout the building peddlers are selling a variety of items. Visitors can buy anything from a billfold to a very large stuffed bear. On Wednesday and Thursday the mounted animals are sold in a large room located on the south side of the barn.
The details on the mounts being sold are phenomenal said another interested visitor at the sale. “The work done on the mounts is fantastic.”
While walking through the pavillion you get drawn in by the sights and sounds.
As you wind your way through the crowd of people selling their wares you hear them explain how it’s made or how it works, in the background of all the chatter you hear the sound of the auctioneer’s voice singing the price of a small exotic bird or a moose mount. The smell of food from the cafeteria or a smoker in front of the cafe whirls throughout the many large rooms full of people enticing them to set down and eat for a spell.
On Friday and Saturday, the exotic animals are sold to interested buyers from Iowa, Arkansas, Michigan, Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, and many from Missouri. Those are just a few of the license plates that could be found in the sea of trailers, campers, pickups and cars.
One would never know an active recession is taking place in our country when you witness the hundreds of people who have traveled to Macon for the Spring Exotic Sale at Lolli Brother’s.
Kelly Petre, manager at Comfort Inn in Macon, said the motels are full in Macon during the sale. Surrounding motels are usually sold out as well.
“Before our guests leave they will book a room for next year’s sale,” Petre said. “They always book a year in advance.”
Macon is unique to many types of entertainment that draws substantial crowds and the exotic sale is definitely one of those events that boosts the economy, puts Macon on the map while giving back threefold.
