Is there any effect on the indications for administration of antivenom when a person has been intoxicated or moderately under the influence of alcohol?

I will answer this question 2 ways since your question could be interpreted to be asking for both.
First of all, there is no interaction between alcohol and antivenom, and antivenom has no effect on LOC. You would never expect to see an untoward reaction by administering antivenom to a ETOH patient.
Likewise, antivenom is an antibody and alcohol does not retard it's ability to bind with venom molecules. You wouldn't need to give more or less antivenom simply because a patient is inebriated. Treat the hemodynamic status of the patient and observe their blood labs for abnormalities/coagulopathy.
If a patient has been snakebitten, regardless of their level of conciousness, alcohol or drug induced state, the only definitive treatment is antivenom.
Judi, if you are located in the US, you need to read the article on CroFab found on the homepage. If your hospital doesn't have it yet, by all means, encourage them to research it and stock it.
