many of you might have noticed the enemy, HR669 supporters kept saying how invasive species eradiation costs USA 130 plus billion annually.Well, here is the paper they quote:
http://people.hws.edu/bshelley/Teaching/PimentelEtal00CostExotics.pdf
What is wrong with this estimate and how is it misleading? It includes MANY plants and microbes, and look at feral cat damage, cats are exempt.
To my knowledge, HR 669 is about 'species' aka no plants? Correct me if I am wrong. But look at the table, very informative where HR669 supporters are coming from. Exotic pets are NOT the main issue, pests and plants might be, but to blame exotic pets for all of this is insane.
Distinguish between losses and actual control loss paid by government an private sector. The 130 billion number is very misleading, as it includes costs and losses regardless of who is paying. Thsi si too successfully used by our enemies, don't let them.

Just why are we allowing folks from Guam and American Samoa to be Representatives and introduce Legislation that can have an effect on the whole country, in the first place ?
Those places are not States ! Perhaps they should have a small voice, but they sure should not be part of the House of Representatives, and should not be allowed to introduce bills for the mainland.
Guan has allready show that it can not control invasive species with the brown tree snake. So, they want to take their failure and punish the rest of us, because they were not able to keep snakes from coming in on planes ? Has anyone ever heard of fumigation ?
The invasion of brown tree snakes started in Guam way back during WWII. Back then the Military did not give a care about a few snakes coming in on planes. They have a poor record concerning enviornmental issues, and always have, and allways will have.
Just some random ideas on the issue.
Best Regards
