Just wanted to thank the members of the Repticon Team for bringing another great show to Columbia. Many vendors, many fine animals and products for sale, and a large crowd through the door. Only real problem is that the crowd seemed to have forgot to bring moeny to spend. They mostly walked around with cell phone cameras and tiny cameras taking photos of all the animals on display.
Best Regards

I thought it was a good show, I agree though, didnt look like too many animals were going out the door. I am guilty of taking pictures with a little camera.lol, But I also picked up a little southern copperhead.

It was great to see everybody there. I am really glad that selling herps is not my only income!!I basically ended up wholesaling a large segment of what I brought to sell. I am happy that out of seven new additions, 6 ate today!! Lets hope the economy gets better by November or that people save all their pennies from now until the next show.

I wasn't able to attend this show, but had 3 different friends attend. I have no way of telling, but was the selection of animals there for this show? As compared to the previous shows, was there as many vendors with as many animals for this show?

Realizing that the timing of the show is well ahead of most of this years young, I thought the selection was excellent. There were lots of great deals to be had if you had money in your pocket.

I agree with Bob, there were some very seldom seen animals at this show.
Folks who came through the door were just not spending money. Probably not their fault though, as the American economy sux. Folks are not going on vacation to Florida, they are staying at home. Thus the huge crowds of locals from the Columbia area through the show, as all they had to do to see exotic animals was to buy a cheap reptile show ticket. Way cheaper than going to Silver Springs, Florida to see critters.
If things do not get better soon, many vendors just might stop attending (they already are). By the time you buy a table at the show, and the gasoline to get there, and the two nights in a sleazy motel, and meals, you have to sell a lot of herps to just break even at a show.
I am not able to break even at a show yet. I go there to see friends, not to make money. But, It would be nice to at least cover my expenses for the show.
If this keeps up, I bet we see a few dealers wind up on leaving the shows, and many new, inexperienced ones enter the state.
Very sad and troubling state of affairs.

I had a great time at the show! I got to see a lot of friends. And also acquired a few new animals which I am pretty proud of. The show itself was great the animals there were amazing. I am looking forward to November it should be a show to remember.

I had a great time at the show. I was able to visit with all the friends there, and I met some new ones to boot!
I thought there was a great variety of animals at the show, and I was fortunate to get a few new additions. Thank you Dr. Bob and Andre for the great animals.
All the years of hard work has started paying off, I sold every Eastern Diamondback I brought, and several folks came from different states just to pick one up from me. Honesty is the best policy, and I was told I have a good reputation for having healthy, thriving snakes. I wish I could have sold the other snakes I brought, I guess in the future there is no need to bring anything other than my baby EDB's!
It was great to visit with all of you attending, and I am looking forward to the November show. I agree with Joe, I think it will be a great one.
Thanks to all the venomous escorts and the staff that helped make this show a accident free and enjoyable show.
I also agree with John, it is a "visiting" show for me also that I look forward to seeing folks that I do not see on a regular basis.
To all of those who purchased snakes from me, thank you once again.

Aaron, a vendor was bitten by a copperhead last year when he picked up a deli cup.
There have been several close calls where snakes fangs went through deli cups.
Folks pick them up in a casual manner, with little attention to the way the snake if facing, or the small air holes punched around the sides.
Your heat signature makes a perfict target for a pit viper to strike at, and because the fangs point straight forward in biting, it is easy to see how a bite can happen.
