Tristan, I would just like to say that this site is about Education.
And if you decide to come back and post a honest profile, that you will find that there are many here who will take the time to answer your questions about snakes.
That you posted about keeping many of the worlds most venomous snakes, complete with scientific names, does show that you have a great interest in snakes. However, it also shows that you thought you needed to impress folks here before we would answer questions for you. That is not the case at all.
So, Tristan, if you are reading this, give it another try, and do not try to impress folks here with made up stuff. Be honest about who you are, and what your experience with snakes is. And ask honest questions.
If you do that, you will get honest answers.
You will find many folks here on the world's largest venomous reptile site, who are willing to answer the questions of young reptile keepers.
Best Regards
John Z

I'm not going to lie any more. Go ahead and look at my HONEST profile. So what if I only own a corn snake. Just 'cause of that doesn't mean I can't be a member on this website. But if it does then email me at kryptoniktt@gmail.com. Even though I don't own a venomous snake I still like to go on websites like this one. But if no one wants me on the website anymore than i'll just leave and won't bother you guys anymore. So I want to stay on the site and have fun. And you can also visit my websites at camelspiderz.webs.com scorpionzandspiderz.webs.com and poisonousanimals.webs.com. Don't put www. before them though.

Welcome Tristan. There is nothing wrong with corn snakes. I'd be willing to bet that almost everybody here started with a corn snake (or at least a non-venomous colubrid of some sort). Good luck with your herpetological aspirations. I hope we can teach you some valuable stuff here.

Corn snake was my first snake, and I still keep them today. I wish I would have had a this kind of resource when I was growing up. There is a wealth of knowledge and knowledgeable members. Learn, learn, learn, ask questions, and read the resources. Good luck.

My first snake was also a corn snake, Tristan. I got him when I was 7. I was 35 before I started working with venomous snakes. I probably would have started earlier, but never even knew that there was a legal way to do it until I happened to talk to someone from Fish and Game at a reptile show.
Then I spent quite a while reading sites like this one to learn what I could before I started working with them at a refuge...and quickly found that I still had a lot to learn... I knew about the species and what they needed, but very little about how to handle them safely. Make sure you have someone who can teach you that in person before you try handling any.
No one here is going to think less of you because you don't keep any venomous snakes yet (or even if you never do). Take your time and learn as much as you can.

:-) Glad to see you here! Don't tell anyone but my first snake was a Garter snake. I would catch California Kings but they scared the, ummm... (poop) out of me when they acted like they would bite. So maybe a Garter wasn't my first snake but it was the first snake I trusted to hold and kept for a longer period of time. As you can see, I now mess with Venomous so some where along the way I lost that fear. I have a small king snake collection but I do have a Corn in my collection (Great snakes, always a favorite)

BTW Tristan, we all have been in your shoes at one time or another even if some of us don't want to admit it. We all had the excitement and even these old timers, I'm sure still get gitty as a school girl when they get that snake they have been wanting for a long time or in some cases get a phone call to come remove an Albino Eastern Diamondback. (A story I'll never forget Paul!) Point is, we all have been in your shoes and it's ok that you just own a Corn snake, we don't forget where we came from and many of us will help where we can.

I work with about 500 venomous snakes daily, many among the baddest of the bad. I come home to about 28 more venomous snakes of my own collection. I just spent the past two weeks out collecting venomous species from the hills of California through Arizona, New Mexico and back through Texas.
My favorite snake of the trip and the one I have been enthralled with for the past two days (although I know the snake it growing tired of me)is a hatchling Desert king snake I found as the last snake of the trip. I love these little dudes!
My point is.....never forget why we are in this. I am proud to say I still have that childhood fascination and fervor for all the snakes regardless after all these decades. Never lose that! My first snake... a garter snake and I still remember every scale and pattern deviation on that snake to this day.

You can email me a venomous snake quiz. Not from a website though make it yourself. Just don't quiz me on scientific names because i'm not that good yet. The only scientific names I can think of right this second is bitis, bothrops, naja, various and fea.
