i had a 8mo old c atrox it was fine this morning when i left when i came home i noticed it was like it couldent controll its upperbody. it would strike repeditaly and couldent seem to close his mouth on will when it striked. it was laying and moving weird in the process, it bit its self, i had to get him un stuck and it died about an hour later. Also two days ago it reguriated a mouse. can someone help me out, what do you think went wrong? I thought snakes were imune to there venom but i called a local vet and he said if a c. atrox bites its self the will usually die within 7 hrs. some one help me out , the day temp in the cage was kept in the low 80s

I have never had that happen with atrox, but I did have an adult female ball python that regurgetated Two mice and then she acted really odd, she would move her head very erraticaly and it seemed that she had very little control of her upper body muscles, she would loop her head around and make a circle out her body also biting the air alot. She was like this for around 2 yrs and has slowly gotten better, but she is still weird. I would assume that if she was HOT she wouldnt be around any longer.
Good Luck

I had an Atrox about two years ago. It bit itself every time I had to remove it from the enclosure (for cleaning, etc.) It never suffered any ill effects, however, if it's fangs had struck a vital organ, the outcome might have been different. Self envenomation is usually not a problem. I have no idea as to the other behavior you mention.
