I need some advice on how to go about getting the license/permit to own an Eastern Indigo in Florida.
I want to take the Educational route. I have a school lined up that will allow me to periodically come in and talk about native snakes to young children. Now I know I will have to document each time I do this and plan on having the school sign a prewritten letter stating that I did do the above. I'm guessing it will take time, a year or more.
Honestly, I'm not sure what my best option is here. I called G&F and got the run around, some of you know how that goes. Point is I'm going to jump through the hoops and get this done, one day! I hope I will be able to put enough pressure on the state showing I have done everything they require... I hope doing educational stuff at schools will qualify but that little voice in my head keeps telling me I need to be a museum or something.
If anyone can give me advice I would appreciate some light in a very dark room. I know I need a federal permit.

it takes lots of time. I got the permits and the snake for a Museum that I worked at and it took over a year for the paperwork to be filled out and gone over and approved. just be patient. I hope you get it!
