This should throw some fuel on the python ban fires.

Least it was Indonesia where large Pythons are native and not in the US being kept illegally. Just hope the story stay under the radar.

I'm curious how they were able to measure it?
Swimming in rivers with large predators such as crocs and pythons and you expected what?

It is funny how it was not captured, but a measure of 23' was given. Since it was Indonesia and large snakes do live there native, I hope this will not be used as "fire" for a ban. Wild animals are going to kill people from time to time. This is life. We are only one species of many, and are not the top of the food chain in all situations. Good ole natural selection affects all species.

I think the python ban folks here will use it for all it is worth.
They will use it to scare people, and tell them that pythons kill larger humans.
It is just what they need to get the ban passed this summer.

The news lady, nit-wit, says "he could eat both of us in one gulp."
Stick a fork in it, it is done. LOL.
All of you python lovers better sell your critters (like many are doing on the classifieds here the last few weeks), while they still have "some" value.
Might be better to sell all of them to the hide tanners for Justin boots.
By the end of summer, they will be outlawed, and there will be no market for them.
That is what you all get for your "all or none" attitude.
You all forced USARK into it, and now, it will bring all of you down, along with USARK.
Are you proud of yourselves ??? Be proud. Be very proud. This loss is YOUR doing.................
Best Regards

Hey there John Z. Long time. Well I can only offer one thing here about all this. You don't see people water skiing down the Bayou, and for good reason, so why in Gods name would you swim in the waters of Indonesia. You might as well tie a steak around your neck and jump into a pool of hungry sharks. Have fun Y'all.

Charles,
I think the folks in that village use the river all the time in day to day life.
They water their livestock in the river.
They wash their clothes in the river.
They bathe in the river.
The kids swim in the river.
Same thing happens all over the world in primitive cultures.
Every now and then, a crocodile, hippo, tiger, or python picks one of them off.
I remember kids swimming in the black waters of the Suwanee River in areas where 17 foot alligators regularly snatched wild pigs and hunting dogs from the shore. No humans were ever eaten though by those large gators.
However, I would hate to fall out of a boat in Billy's lake in the Okefenokee Swamp. The gators there have been fed so much by fishermen, that they are sitting there just looking for a handout. If someone were to fall in, I think there could be a feeding frenzy.
Best Regards
John Z
